Trauma Therapy in Texas
Therapy for complex trauma, attachment wounds, family of origin, and relational abuse.
Sometimes the deepest wounds come from the relationships that were supposed to keep us safe.
The Nourished Mind Counseling offers virtual trauma therapy for women and teens across Texas. We work gently and clinically with survivors of childhood trauma, emotional neglect, abuse, and relationship trauma, creating space to grieve what happened, rebuild trust, and rediscover your voice.
Our therapists have clinical training in trauma treatment, including:
Childhood trauma — early experiences that shaped how you see yourself and relationships today
Complex PTSD — trauma that occurred repeatedly over time, often in close relationships
Relational and attachment trauma — patterns formed from inconsistent, unsafe, or neglectful relationships
Sexual abuse — past experiences of sexual trauma or assault
Relationship abuse — emotional, psychological, or physical abuse in past or current relationships
Boundary issues stemming from trauma — difficulty saying no, identifying needs, or trusting your own judgment
Who This Is For
This work tends to be the strongest fit for:
Adults carrying the effects of childhood trauma, even if it wasn't a single dramatic event
Survivors of relationship abuse or complex relational trauma
Clients who feel like their reactions to certain situations don't match the size of what's actually happening
Anyone who's tried to "just move on" and found that trauma doesn't work that way
Teens and young adults processing more recent traumatic experiences
What to expect
Trauma therapy here starts with stabilization and safety, not diving straight into the hardest material. Your therapist will work at a pace that respects your nervous system, building the skills and safety needed before deeper processing work begins.
Sessions are virtual, secure, and available to clients anywhere in Texas.
Our Approach to Trauma Treatment
Trauma isn't just about what happened — it's about how your nervous system learned to respond to keep you safe, and how those responses can outlast their usefulness. We work to:
Build safety and stabilization before processing difficult material — pacing matters
Help you understand your trauma responses without shame
Process traumatic memories in a way that reduces their emotional intensity over time
Rebuild trust in relationships, in your own perception, and in your body
Support nervous system regulation alongside trauma processing, not as an afterthought
FAQs
Do I need to talk about my trauma in detail right away?
1
No. Trauma therapy starts with building safety and stabilization. You're never required to share more than you're ready to, and your therapist will go over this directly with you early on. Often times, you do not even need to talk about specific details to heal.
What's the difference between trauma and PTSD?
2
Trauma refers to the experience itself and its impact; PTSD is a specific diagnosis with defined criteria. You don't need a PTSD diagnosis to benefit from trauma-informed therapy — many people carry the effects of trauma without meeting full diagnostic criteria.
Can therapy help with trauma from childhood, even if it happened a long time ago?
3
Yes. Trauma doesn't have an expiration date, and the timing of when you start processing it doesn't determine whether therapy can help. Many clients begin trauma work years or decades after the original experiences.
