Eating Disorder Therapy in Texas
If your relationship with food feels like a constant negotiation or like something you can't talk about without shame creeping in, you're not alone, and you don't have to keep navigating it by yourself.
The Nourished Mind Counseling provides virtual eating disorder therapy for women and teens across Texas. We work from a weight-inclusive, non-shaming approach, because this isn't about controlling your body. It's about coming back to trust — with food, with your body, and with yourself.

What We Treat
Our therapists have clinical training and experience treating a full range of eating concerns, including:
Anorexia — restriction, fear of weight gain, and the perfectionism that often drives it
Bulimia — the binge-purge cycle and the shame that fuels it
Binge Eating Disorder — compulsive eating, often tied to emotional regulation and body shame
Emotional Eating — using food to cope with stress, anxiety, or difficult emotions
ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) — extreme food avoidance not driven by body image concerns
Chronic Dieting & Disordered Eating — patterns that don't meet full diagnostic criteria but still disrupt daily life
Whether you're early in recognizing a problem, deep into recovery, or somewhere in between, we meet you where you are.
Our Approach to Eating Disorder Treatment
We use a weight-inclusive, trauma-informed approach, which means we don't center weight loss or a number on a scale as a treatment goal. Instead, we focus on:
Understanding the function your eating patterns serve — what they're protecting you from, or helping you manage
Rebuilding trust between you and your body
Addressing the anxiety, trauma, or perfectionism that often sits underneath disordered eating
Building a sustainable relationship with food that doesn't require constant vigilance
Coordinating care with dietitians or medical providers when appropriate
We also offer meal support for clients who need additional structure around eating during active treatment.
FAQs
Do I need a formal diagnosis to start eating disorder therapy?
1
No. Many clients come to us with disordered eating patterns that haven't been formally diagnosed but are still affecting their daily life. You don't need a diagnosis to start getting support.
Is this weight-loss focused?
2
No. We use a weight-inclusive approach, which means weight loss is not a goal of treatment. Our focus is your relationship with food and your body, not a number on a scale.
Can you treat ARFID?
3
Yes, our team has experience working with ARFID, including with teens and young adults.
5
Do you work with clients who need a higher level of care?
4
Is this covered by insurance?
If your eating disorder requires a higher level of care than outpatient therapy can provide, we'll help you find appropriate resources and can continue supporting you alongside that care when clinically appropriate.
We're a private pay practice. We provide superbills for clients who want to seek out-of-network reimbursement.
