Therapy for Body Image
Therapy for Body Image Concerns
You don't have to wait until you "fix" your body to start feeling better in it.
The Nourished Mind Counseling offers online body image therapy for women and teens across Texas. We help clients untangle body shame, perfectionism, and the internalized messages about worth that often get tied to appearance — so you can live with more freedom, regardless of what your body looks like today.
Our Approach
Who This Is For
Body image work isn't only for clients with a diagnosed eating disorder. We work with clients on:
Chronic body dissatisfaction and negative self-talk about appearance
Body checking, comparison, and avoidance behaviors
The link between body image and self-worth more broadly
Body image changes after pregnancy, illness, surgery, or major life transitions
Internalized diet culture and the perfectionism that often drives it
Body image concerns in teens navigating social pressure and identity
This work is a strong fit if you:
Spend significant mental energy thinking about or criticizing your body
Avoid situations (photos, swimsuits, certain clothing, social events) because of body image distress
Notice your self-worth rises and falls based on how you feel about your body that day
Are a teen or young adult navigating body image alongside social media and peer pressure
Want a therapist who won't bring diet culture into the therapy room
What to Expect
Body image therapy here often overlaps with anxiety, trauma, or eating disorder work, since body image rarely exists in isolation from those other patterns. Your therapist will help you understand the full picture — not just the symptom on the surface — and build a treatment approach specific to you.
Sessions are virtual and available to clients anywhere in Texas.
FAQs
Do I need to have an eating disorder to do body image therapy?
1
No. Many clients come to us with body image struggles that aren't connected to a diagnosed eating disorder. If body image is affecting your confidence, relationships, or daily life, that's enough reason to start.
Will you focus on weight loss?
2
No. We use a weight-inclusive, body-neutral approach. The goal isn't changing your body — it's changing your relationship with it.
Do you work with teens on body image?
3
Yes, body image is one of the most common concerns we see in teen clients, especially alongside social media pressure and identity development.
Is this covered by insurance?
4
We're a private pay practice and provide superbills for clients seeking out-of-network reimbursement. We accept HSA and FSA and offer sliding scale rates. Please contact us at 210-816-1366 to discuss options.
